Ethiopia

Together in Hope is supporting Irish organization Youth Release in its efforts in providing educational and psychosocial support to street children in Dire Dawa Ethiopia. Youth Release is currently working with a local partner in Ethiopia providing an outreach service to disadvantaged and vulnerable youths. It is currently working to provide adequate educational training, youth outreach and social services to this target population. These services are limited in this area. Youth Release aims to provide these services through the establishment of a youth center and outreach service working with street children from all backgrounds. Essentially Youth Release, together with local partners and the support of Together in Hope, aims to give these children the opportunity to develop their own talents and areas of interest which they can use to build and discover their own futures.

In September 2011, Youth Release opened its youth center. The youth center is now providing education, health classes, tutorial support, counseling services and family re integration programs to 275 children.
The present project aims to provide educational support for 300+ children who have discontinued their educations or are about to discontinue due to lack of educational support. The school reintegration or educational support program includes the provision of educational opportunity while the children live and work on the street, and for those children from vulnerable households. The children who are willing to attend school shall be assisted and provided with school uniforms, and all other educational materials and tutorial support. Our goal is to support them in the facilitation of these programs and to work in partnership together to provide these much needed services.
